Dear students and members of the staff! I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The passing year was the time of serious challenges, hard work, and outstanding achievements for every single one of us, for those who study, teach, and work at our university, and for the whole Ukraine. Today, looking back on 2017, we can say with confidence that we have taken one more step forward towards achieving our goals for the benefit of our alma mater.

Thanks to the team spirit and professionalism of our staff, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University has been ranked high among the other national higher educational establishments for several years in a row (for instance in the Scopus University Ranking, the Webometrics Ranking, and the Top 200 Universities in Ukraine Ranking) where it confirms its status as one of the best classic Ukrainian universities.

Our great success this year was our winning the contest held as part of the Erasmus + KA2 Capacity Building for Higher Education Programme as well as the Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education Using Innovative Teaching Tools Programme (MoPED) with Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University being the grant recipient and the coordinator of the latter for the first time in the history of the Erasmus and Tempus Programmes.

Thanks to the financial support provided by the Ukrainian government, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the local authorities, we managed to implement one of the biggest power-saving investment projects at our university – to renovate one of the campus buildings (where 60% of our students study the humanities) and enhance energy conservation in the other campuses.

Dear colleagues and students! New challenges and new achievements are waiting for us in the New Year. In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the astronomical and meteorological observatory on Pip Ivan the University Academic Council declared 2018 the Year of the Observatory. The coming year will also be the year of information technologies oriented towards advancing our scientific research and improving the university facilities. I am sure that together we will successfully implement our plans and deal with all the challenges the future holds for us.

May New Year and Christmas holidays bring peace, happiness, harmony, and prosperity to all of us. May your creative inspiration and perseverance never end! I wish you success and great accomplishments for the benefit of our university and our country!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
