The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, Ole T. Horpestad, visited the university on September 14, 2017. Within the framework of the visit the interim University President, Halyna Mykhailyshyn, met with the Norwegian diplomat. The Vice President for Research, Andriy Sahorodniuk, and the University Office of Projects Head, Liubov Ziniuk, also participated in the meeting.

 

The principal directions and prospects of cooperation of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University with Norwegian educational and research institutes were discussed. The interim University President, Halyna Mykhailyshyn, called the attention of the honourable guest to the international activity of the university. She also mentioned its active cooperation with leading higher educational establishments of Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Belarus, Azerbaijan, China, the USA, Turkey and other countries, participation of professors and students in international programmes, research grants and scientific projects. During the meeting Halyna Yosypivna also laid emphasis on that the university is constantly working on the expansion of international ties and expressed interest in fruitful cooperation with  universities of Norway in terms of bringing new projects to life. As to the latter, Halyna Mykhailyshyn made a presentation of the international project aimed at restoring the astronomical and meteorological observatory on the mount Pip Ivan, which is being successfully carried out by joint efforts with Warsaw University (Poland).

The Vice President for Research, Andriy Sahorodniuk, told the ambassador about the academic mobility programme. He mentioned master’s programmes of dual degrees which are realized in 11 specialities by our Alma Mater and Polish leading universities. Due to these programmes students of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University are able to receive free education in higher educational institutions of Poland and get a Master’s degree.

During the talk the University Office of Projects Head, Liubov Ziniuk, emphasized that our university has recently become winner of the European Union Programme contest ERASMUS+.

Within the framework of the visit the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, Ole T. Horpestad, also met with students and professors of the university. The diplomat made a presentation about the bilateral international cooperation of Norway and Ukraine.

During the visit the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, Ole T. Horpestad, honoured the memory of heroes who died in their struggle for the independence of Ukraine.
