The University traditionally celebrated the Spring Festival according to the Eastern Calendar, known as the Chinese New Year. The organizers of the event were the senior lecturer of the Department of General and German Linguistics of the Faculty of Philology Iryna Ilyiychuk, the lecturer of the same department, Jin Feng Guo Xiao, and the primary organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine ( the branch of Precarpathian National University). Today more than fifty students of the University study the Chinese language, get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the Celestial Empire.
The feast began with New Year's greetings and wishes from Chinese students in Chinese. Irina Illyichuk and Dzhen Feng Guo Xiao spoke about the traditions of celebration of the Chinese New Year and delivered a video presentation "Spring Festival". "Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday in China, it is also called" Nien. "In 2018, the Eastern Calendar starts on February 16 and lasts until February 4, 2019," said Ji Feng Guo Xiao. She also talked about the main customs and traditions of celebrating the New Year. On the eve of the celebration of the New Year in every home the hieroglyph "Fu" on the door, windows and walls appears. It contains a number of meanings: happiness, health, longevity, prosperity and peace.
"The Spring Festival lasts for 15 days, and all these days the Chinese visit their relatives for lunch and dinner, and celebrate the feast of Flashlights on the 15th day. The main dishes of this holiday are rice balls and, usually, poppy filling. This day is the end of the New Year holidays, and the Chinese are not particularly fond of it, because the New Year celebrations are over and everyone is looking forward to the next year, "said Iryna Ilyichuk.
The video presentation was continued by the festive program: songs and poems in Chinese, interesting contests and master classes. The winners of the calligraphy contest were the Rector of the university Igor Tsependa, the lecturer of the department of journalism Solomia Hrob and the specialist of the International Relations Department Yulia Gorpinyak. Natalia Dymnich, the teacher of the Department of Journalism, was the best with the Chinese Sticks. The winners of the competitions received New Year's souvenirs from the organizers.
