Consolidation of science activity of University’s researchers is the purpose of Center creation, that work in industry of applied Material Science, results of their introduction in educational activity of Physico-technical faculty of University and improvement of quality of preparation of highly skilled specialists of specialization «Physicist», «Applied physics». Within the REC framework the fundamental researches in industry of nanotechnology and nanomaterials application for the increase of energy effective of the sources and stores of electric energy will be conducted. In particular, there will be development of new electrode materials for the lithium sources of energy, the methods of oxide nanomaterials receipt and composites on their basis will be perfected. .
The Centre creation of is the result of collaboration of Fund of Civil Researches and Development of the USA (CRDF), Agencies of International Development of the USA (USAID) and Ministry of Ukraine for Education and Science on the program «Collaboration in scientific and technical researches and education» (SNTDO) in industry of energy effective technologies. Acceleration of Ukraine transition to the economy of knowledges on the basis of strengthening of positions of science and higher education in Ukraine is the purpose of the program.
In opening ceremony took part Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Maxim Striha, Ambassador of the USA in Ukraine William Teylor, Vice-President of Fund of Civil Researches and Development Eric Novotni, Rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk PreCarpathian National University Bogdan Ostafiychouc, representatives of international organizations, that work in the field of scientific-technological development, local public agents. The Deputy Minister Maxim Strikha marked that the Scientific-educational centres created on this program fastened scientific potential of the Ukrainian universities, their accordance to the economic and technological necessities, possibility to prepare a new generation of young scientists in key industries of technique. In appearance was understanding by the government of necessity of support of the newest technological decisions is underlined in the area of material science and importance of development of this direction for the subsequent successful economy growing of country. The ambassador of the USA in Ukraine William Teylor marked that creation REC in Ivano-Frankivsk is the result of victory in competition, at participation of many higher specialized educational establishments from Ukraine, that testifies to considerable potential of PreCarpathian researchers exactly in the field of applied nano-material science. .

For today the development of energy effective technologies is priority direction of scientific and technical development of most world countries and support from the side of CRDF and USAID will allow the Ukrainian researchers and students to remain on the edge of advance of science. The help which is given by USAID till recently was concentrated in industries of economy, health protection and social sphere, therefore financing of scientific and technical projects is a sign signal, that testifies to importance of development of this sphere for the American-Ukrainian relations.
Financing of center activity will take place on parity terms at the assistance the government of Ukraine: 300.000 USD from CRDF, 150.000 from Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and a 150.000 USD from Vasyl Stefanyk PreCarpathian National University.
Sponsorship of Center will allow to acquire the modern research equipment, will allow to involve highly skilled scientific workers-teachers in realization of new research-teaching programs to involve in research work the gifted student young people and will be instrumental in establishment of communications with scientific partners in Ukraine and abroad.
