Resolution of Cabinet Council of Ukraine from December, 19, 2001, N 1709.


      Laboratory of Mossbauer spectroscopy with analysis of conversion electrons and X-ray irradiation was founded in 1982 with the aim of complex approach providing in the decision of scientific and technological tasks of the electronic industry of Western Ukraine. In 1988 on the base of Laboratory and laboratory of X-ray analysis was created joint research Magnetic films physics department of National Academy of Science (Institute of the physics of metals, Kiev) and Ministry of Education and Science (Vasyl Stephanyk Precarpathian National University).


      Activities of Laboratory is related to implementation of themes and projects of USSR Defense Department (up to 990) and scientific themes of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Presence of high professional specialists and powerful experimental equipment, the basis of which is Mossbauer spectroscopy complex, allows to investigate of electron-nuclear interactions in different Fe- containing material. The results and achievements got scientists of Laboratory are resulted in confession of Ivano-Fankivsk as one of the center of newest materials synthesis and development and functional material science in the Western region of Ukraine. Another confirmation of achievements and professionalism of precarpathian scientists and the uniqueness of Laboratory is the fact of the decision by Ministers Cabinet of Ukraine (2001) about the grant of Laboratory the status of national scientific property of Ukraine.


      Guidance by Laboratory carries out rector of Vasyl Stephanyk Precarpathian National University, chief of the material science and newest technologies department, member of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, PhD, professor Bohdan K. Ostafiychyk.
      Work of Laboratory is indissoluble related to research and educational activity of the material science and newest technologies department of Vasyl Stephanyk Precarpathian National University . Directly with the use of experimental base of laboratory 14 dissertation (doctoral and candidate of science) works are protected and 2 are prepared to defence.
      The uniqueness of Laboratory is based on:
  • application of conversion electronic mossbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) method for investigation of superficial layers of Fe-containing materials with extraordinarily high resolution (10-8-10-9eV);
  • possibilities of mossbauer spectroscopy using for the investigation dynamic effects (processes of diffusion, phase transition);
  • - methods crystalline and magnetic microstructure investigation of Fe-containing materials at the level of nuclear and electron-nuclear interaction, and also to trace of its transformation after intercalation, irradiation, laser and thermal annealing.
      As a result:
  • possibilities of new functional materials with forecast properties development are achieved;
  • the improvements of materials synthesis technological conditions which are directed on prejudice of working properties degradation are obtained;
  • the principles of nanocomposite materials development for the electrochemical electric energy renewable devices are established

      The advances of professor Bohdan K. Ostafiychyk scientific school of found wide acknowledgement in Ukraine and abroad. The scientific results of Laboratory activity passed approbation at the international conference and exhibitions, in particular lately:

  • presentation of technological developments of Vasyl Stephanyk Precarpathian National University’s scientists in brunches of oxide and carbon nanomaterials getting and utilization in the National Institute of Nanotechnology (National Research Counsil (NRC), Edmonton, Canada);

      Work of Laboratory takes place with permanent direct participation in the scientific programs of NASU and researches related to the scientific projects of Ministry of education and science of Ukraine, in particular lately:
  • "Influence of ionic implantation and diffusive processes on the forming and structure properties of the garnet and semiconductors films superficial layers" (N 01890070690);
  • “Structure and magnetic properties of the superficial layers of mono- and polycrystal materials modified by ion implantation”;
  • “Physical and chemical conformities of intercalation nanoscale structures forming for molecular electronics” (N 0101U002449);
  • “Research of electron-ion processes details in nanodispersed and nanocomposition structures on the basis of metals oxides” (N 0104U002441);
  • International project “International project the “Development of lasers and combination intercalation methods for nanotechnology of nanoscale structures” #1709 (STCU).
  • International project "Creation and functioning on the base of Vasyl Stefanyk PreCarpathian National University Science&Education Centre «Nanomaterials in accumulation and generation of energy devices»" (CRDF USA).
      Practical value of the scientific results got in Laboratory:
  • the methods and special software for the investigation of the space orientation of separate cations sublattice magnetic moments are developed and tested;
  • power characteristics of the damaged structure thermal renewals processes for wide range of ferrite materials are obtained;
  • the understanding of radiation defect formation and relaxation (thermal and as the result of natural senescence) physics in the superficial and tensed magnetic films are achived;
  • technological conditions of magnetic materials (spinels and garnet) crystalline and magnetic microstructure forecast modification are improved; the obtained results are used for production of novel film and bulk magnetic material;
  • for the first time in Ukraine the influences of intercalation processes, isothermal and laser annealing of Fe-contained oxide nanocomposites was investigated by the mossbauer spectroscopy method
